Marco and social bookmarking

Hello everybody!

This time I am going to speak about what social bookmarking is about.

During the last lesson of our English course at university, we went on a site called delicious. This is a space in which one can post their favorites links about any argument they want and read about the links posted by other people. In this way one may find also links that are worth reading about the argument they are looking for: this is also the reason why one usually finds interesting links of good quality.

My university colleagues and I put some links as well and we searched for links of other people in order to better understand how this type of community (I think I can call it this way...) works. This way of sharing links and interests with other people is useful and easy to do.

I searched about the links my colleagues posted: since we had to put links of common interest, I found that "our" links mostly dealt with dictionaries, university, translation: these are the things we all have in common, so there was not too much room for imagination. Anyway, in my opinion this is a very useful way to share and find out interesting information and moreover I had fun looking up among statistics how many people saved the same links as I did and who were they (at least through their nicknames!)

That's all, folks!
Marco

    Dear Marco,
You made some interesting comments about your experience in del.icio.us. For example, I agree that the quality of bookmarks on a community (yes, you can call it that) site like this one is slightly higher than that on a search engine because someone’s decided to put it there.
You say there was no room for imagination? Well, your site is yours now. Feel free to add all the bookmarks you want. If you think they may interest someone in the course, use the course tag, otherwise use other descriptive tags.
You don’t mention exactly which of your colleagues’ bookmarks you found interesting. Maybe you didn’t have time to take a close look at them. Try using their ‘notes’ or summaries. You may find some sites that help you in your English language learning.

    Just a few language comments:
    - favorites links
    - wrong words: any (vs. every)
    - prepositions: searched about
    - word order: understand better
    - name it in this way = call it this
    - verbs: way of share, had the need to, were not too much room, had fun look uyp
